Parrots - Care & Behaviour
There is much discussion and indeed argument about the correct way to keep parrots as pets.
You might have a problem with your parrot, or simply want to prevent problems from happening.
Behaviour problems can be, for instance,
- feather plucking
- biting
- screaming
- antisocial behaviour
- intolerance of other pets or family members
It is essential that the cause of the unacceptable behaviour is regarded holistically.
In simple terms, a bird’s behaviour is affected by:
- Environment
- Diet
- Interaction with family members
- Sleep patterns
- Effects of being denied normal parrot behaviour
- Effects of owners perceptions of how a parrot ought to behave
I can help you with your bird only if you are prepared to be open minded and take advice.
On a home visit I will assess the whole situation, listen to your ideas and views, and arrive at a mutually agreed solution.
Your views are as valid as mine.
I can offer professional advice, which is realistic and fits in with your family life.
In most cases the owner of a much loved pet is the very last person to spot the source of the problem!
This applies to all of us, and professionals are not excluded!
However, an experienced, sympathetic behaviour adviser can help the whole family to enjoy their pet to the fullest extent possible.
Some behaviour problems indicate a trip to the vets, if this is the case, you will be advised to visit an avian vet. before we visit.
Fees can be as little as £85 for a local visit, which will last for a couple of hours or so.
There is no real time limit, as we have to wait for the parrot to co-operate.
Full notes, arranging a plan of action and follow up phone calls and Emails are included in the fee.
Please Email or telephone for a full discussion on your problems, and allow me to install harmony into your household.
