College of Pet Animal Studies
Parrot Care and Psychology
Level Two
This Course is designed to educate parrot owners in the general care, maintenance and psychology of the parrot. The Course is written in 6 units, and students are expected to carry out their own research and study by using material provided, libraries, the Internet (which is available free to College students or from your local library. Simply type in 'parrot' and then click on either search or keyword.)
Unit One
This unit covers diet, housing, and general health needs. There is much new knowledge available, and we shall be looking at the new ideas on diet, housing, and sleep patterns.
Unit Two
This unit deals with psychology of the parrot, and how we can use this knowledge to give our bird a better life, and enjoy a better relationship.
Unit Three
This unit deals with training, both for everyday behaviour and for 'party tricks'.
Unit Four
We study more advanced psychology, dealing in more depth with problem behaviours, how to prevent them, and how to cure them.
Unit Five
Here we will look at the different breeds, and which one will suit which lifestyle.
Unit Six
Complete summary of the knowledge we have gained, and how individual students have used their new knowledge.
There will be projects to research for each unit, and findings will be presented either verbally, in writing, on video or audio-tape, or a combination.
